The Producers' Club is dedicated to artistic community, and to providing its services and facilities in service of artistic community. Most of all we are dedicated to supporting and nurturing those with the vision and will to create. Whether it be for auditions, readings, workshops, or fully realized productions, the Producers' Club provides performance and rehearsal space and support services at reasonable prices. In addition, our friendly, resourceful staff has a genuine interest in facilitating and promoting all the work that is produced here and forming long-lasting, professional relationships with those who call the Producers' Club home. We at the Producers' Club are committed to upholding the traditions of entertainment and innovation inherent in New York's theater community. We believe there truly is no business quite like show business.

History

The Producers' Club, in the heart of Manhattan’s legendary theater district, opened its doors to the public in 1993. Founded and built by Benjamin Kolbert, an entrepreneur with a deep love for the performing arts, the Producers' Club has been home and proving ground to productions of all sorts. Even in these turbulent times, the Producers' Club maintains the commitment it has always had to the success of every production that is housed here, from the smallest one-man show to a lively musical in the Grand, our largest theater. There is always a new project beginning at The Producers' Club; the traffic of teachers, actors, directors, playwrights, and budding production companies provides countless opportunities to network and form a supportive community that theater artists are happy to call home.

Laurence Gerwitz

Anthony Abeson

Anthony has conducted group acting classes and private coaching for actors for over twenty-five years in New York. His classes are designed to "do work that gets work" ad follow no particular recipe. As Stanislavski said, "No recipes, whatever works." THe actor-training is an amalgam of Anthony's work with Peter Brook, Jerzy Grotowski, Lee Strasberg, Harold CLurman--weekly classes involve monologues, improvisatio, scene study, and on-camera work on current film and television sides. Believing that experience is the best teacher, the classes are "doing classes", not "sitting-lot-and-watching-and-listening-to-the-teacher-talk classes." Anthony is thrilled that so many of his students have gone on to successful careers onstage and in film and television, including Jenifer Aniston, Ellen Pompeo (Grey's Anatomy), Ian Somerhalder (lost), Esai Morales (NYPD Blue, The Cure), Lisa Vidal (Numb3rs), Cedric Sanders (The Ten), and many others.

There is an on-going professional class--all evels of experience are welcome.

Silkie O-Ishi

She is also a founder and Guild Mistress for the Bardic Arts Guild (in affiliation with the Druidic Society of Great Britain) as well as the Resident Director for the Hibernian Theater Company. In terms of her work as an instructor, Silkie says, "My job as an acting teacher is to help bring forth truthful behaviors from within the framework of imaginary circumstances, thus eliminating preconcieved line readings.
